The city of Hovo Hamburgo was colonized originally by German settlers and later by Italians, and their legacy is still there today.
It is a strategic location: a very hospitable city, located in the south of the country, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. It is not far from the Serra Gaucha and the coast and 40km from the state capital, Porto Alegre. The location of Novo Hamburgo was a decisive factor in setting the industry free. This led to rapid industrialization, until it became one of the most active economic centers in the Vale dos Sinos.
For a long time, the industry in the city was almost exclusively devoted to the leather-footwear chain, which developed quickly and was soon embedded. This led to it being recognized as the National Capital of Footwear. Nowadays, Novo Hamburgo is going through a new phase of industrial diversification.

La ubicación de Novo Hamburgo fue un factor decisivo para su emancipación, que la condujo a industrializarse de forma acelerada, transformándola en uno de los polos económicos más activos de Vale do Sinos.
Por mucho tiempo, la industria estuvo prácticamente formada tan solo por la cadena del cuero y del calzado, pero como esto ocurrió de forma rápida, persistente y organizada, llegó a ser reconocida como la Capital Nacional del Calzado.
